2019 Tobacco Referendum

Flue-cured tobacco farmers engaged in the production of flue-cured tobacco during the 2018 crop and who share directly in the risk of production of the tobacco crop or in the proceeds of sale of tobacco grown in North Carolina are eligible to vote on the referendum on Wednesday, January 30, 2019.

The check-off referendum is a vote on continuing their support of export promotion and expansion for US flue-cured tobacco by Tobacco Associates, Inc. for the marketing years 2019, 2020, 2021.

The referendum will be conducted by the North Carolina Cooperative Extension Service. The Hertford County Cooperative Extension Center, 301 West Tryon St. Winton, NC will be the polling place for Hertford County farmers and will be open during normal business hours 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

The referendum will include the question of continuance of the authorization of annual assessments not to exceed one-fifth (1/5) of once cent per pound. The exact assessment to be approved by the North Carolina Tobacco Associates Board members.
