Fertilizer prices are skyrocketing, with no end in sight.
The Beaufort County Cooperative Extension Center has organized an important Zoom meeting for Friday, November 5th, at 8 a.m. to discuss using fertilizers more efficiently for corn, wheat, and soybean production.
NC State University Extension Specialists that will be presenting include:
- Dr. Ron Heiniger: Economics involved in deciding your crop mix, as well as managing nitrogen for corn production
- Dr. Stephanie Kulesza: Maximizing the efficiency of poultry litter
- Dr. Deanna Osmond: Results of a study conducted with farmers looking at nitrogen rates for corn and wheat.
- Dr. Luke Gattiboni: Reasons for rising fertilizer prices, and how you can be more efficient with phosphorus in crop production.
- Dr. Nick Piggott: Crop cost inflation tool (click on “crop comparison tool” here: https://cals.ncsu.edu/are-
extension/crops-marketing-and- logistics/grain-marketing/) to show you how to use it to determine your crop mix for next year.
