Explore the wonderful world of apples-everything from growing and production to taste nutrition and uses. Did you know that apples were the second most consumed fruit in the country in 2021 and that at one time there were over 14,000 different varieties of apples in the United States? If you love apples and want to learn more about them Currituck County 4-H has the class for you.

A” is for Apple:                                                                                                         Youth ages 9-12 will put their taste buds to work and “Take the Apple Taste Test” on November 4, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. During this hands-on workshop, youth will learn about the different varieties of apples and how they are used, participate in an apple taste test, and learn about the nutritional facts and health benefits of apples. Participants will put all their new found knowledge to use when they make their own apple pie totally from scratch.

CloverBud Cooking: Apples, Apples and More Apples:                                    Cloverbud Cooking, for youth ages 5-7 will take place on November 8, 2022 from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. During this hands-on workshop participants will be learning all about apples, taste a few of the many different varieties of apples, make homemade applesauce, and apple dumplings and learn why apples are good for us.

There is a $10 fee for each class. Reserve your child’s seat today by completing the class registration and payment at the eventbrite link listed under the description,  and then, if you have not already done so previously, complete your child’s 2022 4-H Online enrollment. Class size is limited and full registration, including payment, and 4HOnline enrollment is required to hold your child’s spot. We are accepting cash and check payments in addition to paying via credit card through Eventbrite. Please, make checks payable to NCSU. Checks and cash payments can be received at the Currituck Extension Office located at 120 Community Way Barco NC 27917, within 5 days of registration
