Edenton Soybean School - February 11th
In cooperation with the NC Soybean Producers Association (NCSPA) the North Carolina Cooperative Extension will host eight in-depth soybean schools across North Carolina with an emphasis on delivering research-based information to soybean producers.
The closing event in this eight-part series will be held at Leon Nixon Catering (749 Virginia Rd. Edenton, NC 27932) on February 11th, from 4:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

- Reevaluating & Refining Soybean Defoliation Thresholds – Dr. Dominic Reisig
- Northeast NC Grower Discussion Panel
- Keynote Speaker: Dr. Shaun Casteel – Soybean Extension Specialist – Purdue University – “High Yielding Soybeans: Building & Expanding on Foundation”
- Dr. Casteel will lay the foundation of soybean management (i.e. timely planting, plant population) and explain the physiological basis for this foundation. Advances in nutrient management (primarily sulfur and nitrogen) will be discussed as it relates to changes in soybean management and modern growing conditions. This discussion will include the interactions of planting date/conditions, nutrient management, and foliar protection as well as preliminary results from evaluation of biologicals.
